Apparently this bassinet is very comfortable! This is the 2nd time we've caught Harvey in here.
My c-section is scheduled (finally!)!!
Baby Butterworth will be arriving on December 23rd! :-)
Happy Monday! Nick and I had a fun weekend---we had our maternity photo shoot on Saturday. Our photographer is really amazing...check out a few sneak peeks of some of our pictures on her blog: http://laurawinslowphotography.com/blog/
And if you leave a comment, you'll help us get a free 8x10 picture. All we need are 15 family and friends to leave a comment on her blog. :)
In a couple of weeks, we should have the full gallery of photos to view. Those are private though and will require a password to view. If anyone is interested in seeing those too, just let me know and I'll send you the info when it becomes available.
Thanks!
Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month. In closing, we wanted to share a couple of cute pictures that Nick got yesterday. Mudpie is enjoying the nursery too. In fact, we have never seen her so excited and happy...leaping about, spinning in midair. She likes to sneak under the baby's crib...

I've shared before that the cats love to nap inside my closet. I've had to take my clothes out of my top drawer and put a towel in there instead. I can't believe that A) This drawer held almost 40 lbs of cat and B) Josie tolerated this much closeness in her napping place.
From the looks of this, you'd think they were the best of friends!
Here's our nursery (so far). No pictures on the walls yet...we still have decorating to do but I am thrilled with having this much set up!
There's a lot of space under the crib and changing table for all of the baby things we've had piled in the living room until now.

We'll see if our IKEA chair proves to be a comfy spot for feedings.
More baby stuff
Before I had a chance to move items under the crib, Josie had to check things out...
Jethro the Panda and my birthday flowersThe good news is, as of this week I am working from home full time. No more dressing up, trying to put on work shoes, or getting up really early. I am so thankful!
So are the animals. We spend a lot of time snuggling on the couch together and they are happy I'm home every day now. Especially Mudpie, who prefers watching tv from the coffee table instead of her cage.
Here are just a bunch of funny pictures of the laziness around our house:
hello there, do you like my whiskers?
Our office threw us a baby shower yesterday. It was so much fun!
yummy Mexican potluck

cute!
Dad and Mom!
all the lovely ladies we work with...

yes, men were invited and only 2 showed up...baby showers aren't very manly...but the other guys were sweet and gave us a gift, which was very nice of them! :)
We hit a major milestone this week! We are officially in the 3rd trimester!! I'm so happy.
This is one big belly people!!
This month, the baby is about the size of a squash:
I had my glucose test for gestational diabetes. It went very well, and I was told that I'd only get a call from the doctor if I didn't pass. It's been over a week and still no call! I'm hoping that means I passed.
We've ordered our nursery furniture, finally! So I hope to have some cute photos of the nursery for you in a couple of weeks. Next week will be an exciting week for me: we're having our work baby shower on Wednesday, and Friday will be my last day working in the office. After that, I'll be working from home full time and I cannot wait!
Nick and I have taken a tour of the maternity ward at the hospital we'll be delivering at. It's very beautiful and serene and we loved it. I'll also be scheduling my c-section soon too! I'll post more details on that later when I know the date. But it looks like we're aiming towards December 15-18. That means I'll only have about 10 more weeks to go! Yikes!
Here are a few baby shower photos I got on my camera. Between being hot, and then crying a lot, I was not looking so good in most of these! lol! But it was all for a good reason...read on...
Sarah's last gift to me at the shower. I screamed!! Baby Butterworth is getting a best friend: Baby Clark!
Lots of screaming and crying and hugging! This is my very best friend in the world: we've been friends since I was 13. We were in each other's weddings and now we're having babies together. How special!!
Excuse how we look (well, me in particular). We were all crying. But this pic needed to be taken of us 3 pregnant ladies together, all best friends. Fun times!

My lovely friend Brina! We were good friends in high school and haven't seen each other in about 8 years, other than on Facebook. I was so happy she could come to my shower.

Another pregnant friend! I actually used to babysit Tressa back when I was 15 and she was only 12. Hee! Now we're both going to be mommies. Her baby girl is due in February. Another California friend for Baby B to play with, yay!

The only halfway decent picture of me opening gifts. :) Still hoping someone else got a few more flattering shots. Does anyone like pictures of themselves with their mouths open? I don't. Anyway, this picture is a fave because I got this handmade quilt from Grandma Donna. It's gorgeous! And after having Donna as a 2nd mom for the past 17 years, I had no idea she crocheted! :)
Sarah and Justin. We've all been friends since high school! It was great getting together while I was in town.
Sarah and Brian on their way to an Angel game on Sunday before we left. I made them pose with the baby outfit I got from Justion and Rich. It was too perfect! :-)
Who would have thought picking out diapers could be so much fun? Before I started this adventure, I was 25% excited, 25% nervous and 50% determined. Now I'm just all excited (but still determined too)!
My meeting with the cloth diaper lady was great. I got quite the education, and boy am I grateful that I had a source to talk to one-on-one and ask as many questions as I wanted to! There are so many options out there, it's mind boggling! Now I feel confident and in-the-know.
The only thing I wasn't prepared for was finances. I didn't have a good idea of how much to budget, but I think we did a pretty good job. I got myself all set up for the newborn stages and soon I'll be purchasing another kit that will see us through until potty training time!
Here's what we got so far:
Prefolds with Snappis (no more scary pins these days!)
Thirsties diaper covers
These are called Kissaluvs. They are super soft and fuzzy and adorable. :-) I can't wait to see these on Baby's cute little bottom! These are called fitted cloth diapers because there's no folding or Snappis required, and are as easy to put on and take off as a disposable. I got a few of these as a backup for Daddy, Grandpa, or any of us changing a diaper at 3am on no-sleep and just can't handle dealing with folding a regular diaper. Just trying to be prepared...
Super soft cotton fleece, absorbent inner lining
All of these snaps make the diaper adjustable depending on how big baby isOur weekend in California was fantastic! The baby shower was so wonderful and full of blessings. I'm excited to share the details, and more pictures when I get them. I didn't get many pictures on my camera since I was so busy visiting and opening gifts, so I'm hoping everyone else that was snapping pictures will share theirs with me. :-)
For now though, here are some pictures of some of the goodies we received. These are mostly for my mom-in-law's enjoyment, since she wasn't able to join us for the fun and is eager to see all the cute stuff. :-)
a beautiful bassinet from Grandma Joanne and Aunt Dianne!
Josie has been laying underneath it ever since we got it home
so pretty!!

everything yellow and green (of course!) :-)

too cute!

homemade burp cloths from Grandma Donna

the Angels outfit is from Uncle Richie and Uncle Justin. How sweet is that? :-)

Winnie the Pooh cuteness, plus blankets, booties and a crib sheet from Grandma Donna
lots of goodies! from Grandma Donna, Uncle Rick, Aunt Holly and cousin Hailey
a Grandpa Darrell approved toy! ;-)
