Guard Cat

Our new house has the perfect layout for 2 families. We have a long hallway that contains the laundry room, office, Connor's room, our bedroom and a bathroom. This is where the cats happily hang out all day.

Jonas, my mom's dog, stays outside most of the day but he also hangs out in the living areas when my mom is home. Both Mudpie the bunny and Josie the cat are totally unafraid of Jonas. But Harvey, our boy cat is terrified of all dogs. It was a couple of weeks before he would venture out of the hallway to peek into the kitchen.

One day, Harvey was sitting near the kitchen and Jonas happened to be lying under the table. The moment he saw Harvey, he trotted over the say hello. Harvey made a mad dash back into the bedroom. A few seconds later, Josie dashed out of the bedroom and planted herself in the doorway to the hall. She settled into position and glared at Jonas. We thought it was so cute that she was protecting Harvey. :)

Josie has continued to make the hallway entrance her spot and she always lays there, standing guard, whether the dog is around or not! She's our guard cat.

Josie will sometimes venture into the living room to sprawl in a sunbeam. Since no post is complete without Connor pictures, here are a few of Josie basking in the sunlight. And Connor discovering her and chasing her off. :)
