Feeding Budgies

We visited Cheyenne Mountain Zoo with my birthday zoo pass. Boy, do we love zoos! It was such a great day and there are so many details that really stood out, I decided to post a story at a time rather than one long-winded zoo novel. :)

The Phoenix Zoo does not have a bird feeding aviary, but Nick and I had been to one at another zoo and loved it. So we were thrilled to see the budgie-feeding attraction at this zoo! There are a few other birds in there too, like cockatiels and even a few conures. We bought a seed stick and Connor got to feed this cockatiel that took a liking to Nick:

The bird ate it's food pretty quickly, but hung out on Connor's arm after it was done.

Eventually, Connor shook his arm to get the bird off, which was funny. Only, the bird wouldn't go away. It landed on Nick's shoulder and just sat there the entire time we were in the aviary.

Everyone else that came in commented on Nick's "friend". Nick has no idea why he was so special. :)

I'm really amazed no one got pooped on.

This was really fun! Next time we'll bring a few extra dollars to buy more bird food.
