Ice Skating!

Nick took a Friday off just so we could take Connor to a special ice skating event called Polar Pals. A local rink closes off all the ice for kids 8 and under. After the skating is over, they have a story and snacks.

Connor seems very athletic, so we thought he'd do well at skating. Initially, it was very awkward for him and he slipped and slid and fell a lot. But after awhile, he started to do really great!

No, I am not on ice skates. Are you kidding? :) The rink has these cool slip on snow shoes with spikes that help you walk on the ice. Yay! I was happy to not have to just sit on the sidelines. Plus, Nick got to have time to skate on his own while I helped Connor once in awhile.

Okay, these buckets are a great tool! Once we played around to find the right height for Connor, he hung on and started to zoom!

There goes Nick!

Connor LOVED watching his dad skate! He was totally mesmerized by how fast he glided around the rink. Of course, he especially loved it when Nick slid right over to Connor and "fell" by mistake. ;) Connor, being as sweet as he is, came over and fell down too to keep Daddy company. :)

Intense!

At the end of our session, the Zamboni was getting ready to come out onto the ice, so he had to hustle off.

Outside, the Zamboni had left a nice pile of snow to play in. Connor had a blast in that too.

Oh my goodness, we have never EVER seen anything tire Connor out the way ice skating did! Holy cow. He was so exhausted, we had to skip our candlelight hike that evening. Bummer, but we learned our lesson. Don't plan anything but ice skating on a single day. Connor was also famished that evening and the next morning. Very interesting.

All in all, we had a really good time and we plan to take Connor ice skating again.
