Rascally Rabbits

This was our second nature program of Advent. Rascally Rabbits! Of course, Connor wasn't as excited as the other kids since he has rabbits at home, but it was still fun.

Listening attentively to the teacher.

Meeting a rabbit

Checking out a squirrel

Playing a game of coyote chases the rabbits!

Out on a hike, playing in the dead leaves of course!

Investigating coyote scat...this coyote had eaten a rabbit for dinner. It's pretty neat the way the nature teachers explain the facts to kids even as young as 2-3 years old. She told the kids that rabbits are an important food source to animals like coyotes and owls and hawks. But she taught in a way that was not at all scary. I liked that she pointed out to the kids "Coyotes need to eat too, right?".

Connor loved his teacher as did all the kids. She had a gaggle of girls clinging to her for most of the hike, but Connor finally got a chance to hold her hand. :) So cute.

This class went a lot better than the turkey class; Connor was more attentive and in general all the kids were very well behaved.
