Father's Day Fun!
We had a wonderful Father's Day and I hope everyone else did too. Connor and I let Nick sleep in, then gave him his presents, which Connor was very excited about:
Part of the excitement was seeing his own silly photos on Daddy's card
After a breakfast of iced coffee, cheese and green chile omelets, and bacon, we got ready to go to the Springs Spree. Originally I had planned to let Nick lounge around all day, then cook dinner. But Nick found out about the Spree and wanted to take us. It was like a carnival with all the booths, food, rides and animals. Great fun!
Nick took us directly to the pony rides since he knew Connor would love that. And boy did he! We've never seen him look so proud of himself, sitting on his pony, riding just like a cowboy. You could see that he was thinking he was so cool. :)
After his ride, Connor ran over to us and said "Yee Haw!" :)
Up next was the petting zoo:
This was a very big, very mellow bunny
Big camel!
Connor was amazed at this young llama's big eyes
Connor did a great job feeding the animals
Hugs
The baby goats were so sweet!
They had fire trucks, much to Connor's delight!
Nick patiently explaining all about the truck
He climbed up into this seat by himself
Nick took this pic; I love it!
Totally chillin'!
On our way home, Nick requested a Sonic shake so we stopped for a treat. Then we spotted a trail near the creek and decided to pull over and check it out. It ended up being a great area to walk and wade in the creek. Unfortunately we hadn't planned ahead for this excursion and had no towels or change of clothes, but that sort of thing doesn't stop Connor. He loved wading in the creek and his delight is always so joyous, we could hardly say no. :)
It looks like he's getting swept away!
Connor kept wanting to venture further into the creek, totally freaking Nick out. We could see that it wasn't that deep and it didn't seem to be rushing along that fast, but still. You never know. We had to drag him back to shore a few times. That kid is a little dare devil!
You can see one of many of Nick's attempts to coax Connor back over to us
Then he discovered the mud and how fun it is to throw it

Eventually Connor fell completely into the water, and liked it. He continued to stand up, then fall over backwards, landing on his butt with a big splash.
Utterly delighted!
Going down
Splash
Up, then down again!
Having way too much fun! :)
Here's a video of Connor doing his kerplopping:
Making our way back
Needless to say, Connor was soaked and full of sand and pebbles when we got back to the car! Good thing it was a hot day because he got stripped, put into a clean diaper and made the ride home nearly naked. He didn't mind; he happily slurped on his Sonic slush. :)
That evening, we had dinner with our friends that live across the street. We'd had them over the previous night for ribs. Sunday night we enjoyed a delicious meal of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, salad, and root beer floats. And good fellowship with friends. :) We love this family. Connor had a blast with his two buddies. Those three get together and become quite rowdy; they remind me of a litter of puppies.

Nathaniel, Cristian and Connor
Cristian just turned 4 and really likes to pick Connor up, hold him on his lap, etc. We guess he enjoys playing the big brother for once! :)
Silly boys!
In between all these shenanigans, we did manage to call our respective fathers (Grandpas). :) I was happy to hear that my dad was enjoying a big Father's Day party over at my brothers house. It sounds like everyone had a great time this year.
